Oceania Eligibility
All the events are open to all orienteers from all countries.
The Elite (M/W21E), Junior (M/W20E), and Youth (M/W18A and M/W16A) classes will be official International Orienteering Federation (IOF) regional championships and eligible placegetters will be awarded IOF medals.
Competitors representing a member Federation of the IOF belonging to the Oceania continent as defined by the IOC are eligible for the Oceania Championship titles (or prizes). Competitors from Federations outside of the Oceania continent can compete but will not be eligible for the Oceania Championship titles (or prizes).
Note also according to IOF Competition Rule 6.1 – A competitor may represent only one Federation at any one time. They must be a citizen of the country of that Federation. All competitors must ensure that the Orienteering Federation they represent is correctly recorded in IOF Eventor.
For all other classes – eligibility will be in accordance with the Oceania Rules.
IOF Athlete ID for World Ranking Events
The Oceania Middle Distance, Oceania Long Distance and Oceania Sprint Championship events have been designated by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) as World Ranking Events for M21E and W21E elite classes. This includes all competitors in M20E and W20E for the Middle distance and Sprint events since they will be running the same course/s.
Competitors score IOF Ranking points at these events if they have registered as an Athlete in IOF Eventor, have included their IOF Athlete ID intheir Eventor Australia profile and their entry name matches that associated with the IOF Athlete ID. Any athletes entered in the elite classes without an IOF Athlete ID should register in IOF Eventor before the Carnival and add their ID number to their Eventor Australia profile.
Oceania Sprint Entry
As the 2026 Oceania Sprint Championships were held in the Central Coast in January 2026, the sprint event in this carnival will be the 2027 Oceania Sprint Championships. Therefore competitors in IOF Classes(M/W21E, M/W20E, M/W18 and M/W16) must run in their 2027 age classes.
Competitors in all non-IOF classes and grades (i.e. M/W10 – 14, M/W35 and above, M/W20A, 21A, all short and B grades), may run in their 2026 age classes in the Oceania Sprint.
Oceania Relay Entry
Competitors entering in the Oceania Relay Championships, on Sunday 30th September will need to enter the Oceania 2026 Relay Championships Individual Entry.
National and State selectors will then make their team selections based upon your entry. Please note that as well as A, AS and B-grade age-based classes to form teams of 3 (each running a leg), there are 3 Mixed relay classes available: Mixed Hard, Mixed Moderate, Mixed Easy, which form the 3 legs for a Mixed class relay team.
Flight of the Bogong Entries
Available with a 3-day multi-day entry or with single day entry options. If you wish to enter just one or two days of the Flight of the Bogong event series, you will have to select the races to enter within the 3-day event.
You must enter the same class consistently (ie. course class/difficulty levels A to G) to be eligible for cumulative event status and prizes.
Enter Multiple Events in one step
To make the entry process easier simply tick all events in the Oceania Carnival that you wish to enter. Then tick the green box – Enter Selected Events. This will open your entry page for all events. Check and edit each entry and then confirm and pay.
To add additional people to your entry click on: Enter, change or cancel entry for a member or if you have more than 1 to add use Enter, change, cancel for multiple members. Select the name/s from the drop down list. Please remember to check the SI number and entry class for each person for each event.
Split start time requests
Consideration will be given to requests from competitors for a late or early start to facilitate their child-minding requirements. However, this may not be possible in a race with a narrow start window or where the start list is based on rankings or previous results.
No creche or child-minding services will be provided by the organisers.
Family entries
A family entry discount is available across the Oceania 2026 Championships. Where there are at least 3 members of the same family entering (on Eventor under the one entry record at the same time), then a discount applies which Eventor will calculate automatically.
For the discount to apply there needs to be at least 1 adult and no more than 2 adults (additional adults can be included but will be charged at applicable entry rates). Then the charge is made on the three most expensive entries as defined by the event entry fees.
Enter on the day
A select and limited range of Enter on the Day courses will be available matching the Australian course settings levels of Very Easy, Easy, Moderate and Hard. These will be available at the 3 individual Oceania Events and at the Flight of the Bogong 3 day open public events. No entry on the day is available for the Oceania Relay Championships.
Enter on the day competitors are not eligible for any of the event prizes.
Fees will be taken by EFTPOS at the daily information desk; or by cash if there are no EFTPOS facilities. No Family discounts are available. No entry via Eventor is possible.
