Three races across 3 days made the Flight of the Bogong a distinctive addition to the carnival, with competitors racing each afternoon after watching the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships unfold.
Once the schools racing had finished, Flight of the Bogong competitors took to the same courses used for the Australian Schools Championships, giving them the chance to then experience the courses for themselves.
Times were accumulated across all 3 races, so consistency was crucial. Every second gained or lost carried through to the final standings, with the overall winners determined by the lowest combined time over the 3 days.
The final day brought an extra dose of excitement with a mass start, turning the last race into a direct head-to-head contest. After 2 days of accumulated results, competitors knew exactly what was at stake as they headed out together for one final run.
